Silver Convention - Fly Robin Fly
High-larious video from the 70's German disco group Sliver Convention. I love this song for its simplicity, the hook + easy refrain = Awesome. Redman/Method Man fans will recognize this song as the key sample for their 1995 hit, How High.

Walk Away from Love
For the record, I'm not even a fan of the quality of this American Bandstand video. But, since my lil brother insists on playing this song in continuous intervals...I am compelled to feature this song on the blog. It is quite groovy after all.
Enjoy c/o the lil sib.

Dion And The Belmonts - Runaround sue
This is nicest way that you can call a chick a ho! Matter of fact, I say we officially reintroduce Runaround Sue into the modern lexicon as a euphemism for a loose woman.

The Zombies - She's Not There
Santana fan's may have heard this cover, but this is the O.G.
Northern Soul - Popcorn - Bristols
This track is borderline doo-wop but it's a great pop song.
For those familiar with Mayer Hawthorne, this song sounds like something that inspired his music making.
Northern Soul - Great 60s - Ebonys
This lil SouledOut ditty is from 60s/70s Philly Soul Band called The Ebonys.
Favorite Lyric: Don't knock me, somebody else might wanna rock me!
Isaac Hayes Going in Circles
I love the way Isaac beats out each note out like it owes him $.
Peep the string arrangements, and big band sound courtesy of an awesome horn section.
Some call em BLACK MOSES but I call him the SULTAN OF SOUL.
DO YOUR THING - ISAAC HAYES (1972)
Funk this good should be illegal.
This classic has been sampled by everyone: Big Daddy Kane, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre + Snoop Dogg...
This song makes me want a fringe vest, clay colored bell bottoms, and a pair of brown stacks.
Isaac Hayes - Something...Beatles Cover
Take this moment, so you can remember what your life was like before you heard this song!
James Brown covers The Beatles - Something (1973)
I didn't even know that James Brown covered this song. I heard Isaac Hayes' mind blowing interpretation but this James Brown version is definitely a discovery for me.

Chicago Make Me Smile
I really can't get enuf of this band! Blue-eyed soul.
Call it what you want but these dudes can jam...music owes many samples to this band.
I remember always catching this song on the radio, just before it was going off and never knowing what it was. Much to my chagrin, I discovered this audio treasure and much more while rummaging through my pops record collection. Ain't luck grand:)
Frumpy How The Gypsy Was Born
Shout out to Philly's own DJ Phish for turning me on to this band.
The Four Tops-You Keep Running Away

RANDOM CLIP# La Plantera 09 Brazilian Punk Rock Music Festival (feat.) Iggy and the Stooges, Sonic Youth, Primal Scream, entre outros
Random @youtube find while searching for something else.
I came for the concert footage but I stayed for the Brazilian announcer...he was too adorably hiptastic. It's like watching Telemundo in HipsterVision
Trucker Hat, CHECK! Flannel Shirt, CHECK! Quirkey eyeglass frames, CHECK!

Metronomy - A Thing For Me
I can't decide if I like this video/song, it's almost too ironic for me. It's likable, almost too damn likable.
This video wreaks of British hipster but maybe that's not a bad thing entirely. I like the bouncing ball effect, I betcha their British...
I just goggled these blokes and yup, their Brits.
Watch/listen/maybe you will like ;]
the 13th Floor Elevators - You're Gonna Miss Me (1966)
If you're a fan of the film adaptation of Stephen Frears' 1995 novel High Fidelity, you may have heard this ditty before.

Todd Rundgren - Can We Still Be Friends
This man is the piped-piper of relationship songs, hands down.
Todd Rundgren - Hello Its Me
OKAY, so it's obvious that Todd was definitely in his bag (peep the outfit).
Ya' gotta COORDINATE! He still kills it though.
Sweet Baby - Macy Gray Feat. Erykah Badu [HQ]
